What about the financing of mysms?

On the one hand we sell our desktop and tablet apps at a premium (detailed information about this strategy is available on our blog). On the other hand, we work with mobile carriers and handset manufacturers. In these partnerships mysms acts as a service provider.

Which files can I send with mysms?

With mysms you can send any kind of file you want – word documents, pdf-files, avi-files, etc.

If the recipient uses mysms Android, mysms iPhone or our web app, your pictures will be displayed directly in the message. If your recipient is not using mysms or using it on a Windows Phone, she/he will receive your files as a link. After clicking this link, she/he will be shown the full picture/file.

We handle messages with attachment like SMS messages (and not MMS). Therefore, a message with pictures or files costs you the same as a message without attachment.

How do I attach pictures and files to a text message?

1. Click on the attachment button Button next to the text field of your text message.

2. Choose your desired file format in the new window.

3. Next, pick the picture or file you want to send.

4. Insert your recipient and text and there you go!

You can send 4 pictures or files per text message, 10 MB maximum per attached picture/file.

Why are new contacts or changes not shown in mysms?

On the top bar you will find an icon which shows your mysms friends. Here you can create a group. Find an appropriate name and invite your friends. Now you can start a group chat.

What are the icons next to my messages supposed to mean?

Message delivered
Message delivered: When you send a message via mysms friends we automatically send a free delivery report.

Message not delivered
Message not delivered: If you notice a red exclamation point next to a sent message, this means the message could not be delivered. There are several reasons for this, e.g. your contact has turned off his mobile phone or has bad or no reception.

Lock message
Lock message: If you lock a message, it won't be automatically deleted even if you activate auto-delete in the settings. However, if you delete a whole conversation, locked messages will also be erased.

Delete message

Why am I not able to send texts via my mobile carrier?

If you use mysms on other devices in addition to your smartphone, you’ve got the same sending options available as on your mobile. Depending on your smartphone, supported sending options vary. Here you’ll find the sending possibilities that are provided for your smartphone: Android Phone, iPhone, Windows Phone.

What does the notification “Messages 24h not synced” exactly mean?

To keep your data up to date in the mysms cloud, there is a complete sync every 24 hours. In case the notification “Messages 24h not synced” appears, mysms was not able to establish a connection to your smartphone. Reasons for that can be a disabled data connection, task killer or a proxy (using Wi-Fi mode). You could try to perform a manual sync in the mysms settings. After the sync was successful and has completely finished, the notification should disappear after refreshing the web app.

My messages weren’t correctly synchronized/sent. What should I do?

These are the most common reasons for an incomplete sync:

  • Inactive or weak data connection or Wi-Fi on your smartphone.
Perform a manual sync in the mysms settings on your smartphone and re-login in the tablet/web app after the sync has completely finished.
  • For Android: GoSMSPro is installed on your Android smartphone.
Open “Menu” - “Settings” - “Advanced” - “Receipt Settings” and deactivate “Disable other message notifications”

In case you are experiencing issues with sending remote texts, we’ve got a criteria list that we would like you to check:

  • Enabled background data (Android settings)
  • No power saver app or energy saving mode (stable data connection even in sleep mode)
  • Stable data connection on your phone. Try if there is a difference when using your mobile data connection or Wi-Fi. If you're experiencing the problems only in Wi-Fi mode you should try to install the app GCM Wifi Fix on your phone.
  • Latest version of mysms
  • Android version 2.2 or greater
  • Connected Google (Gmail) Account on your mobile (to wake up your phone)
  • Original Android operating system (OS) installed
  • Task killer, power saver or virus scanners can interfere the functionality of mysms
  • In some cases a complete uninstall and a new reinstall will solve the problems.

If you can confirm all these points, contact us via email.
